The Santa Monica College Women's Soccer team opened the 2018 season with a resounding 7-0 victory over Oxnard College. The entire Corsair team made an impact in the match as many of them stepped onto the field for their first time as college athletes. The team worked together to take a 4-0 half time lead and held Oxnard to 0 shots on goal throughout the match.
The leading goal scorer for SMC was sophomore Filippa Struxsjo with a hat trick. Other goals were scored by Paulina Salas, Antoinette Saldana, Ceirra Little, and Dayli Ramos.
SMC Women's Soccer hopes to build on their first game success traveling to El Camino College for a three o'clock game Friday August 31.
