SMC Tennis travelled to Bakersfield and lost a heartbreaking match Tuesday.
Nicole West and Kai Nikchevich posted the 1st and only Corsair doubles point with an 8-1 win at the no. 1 position. West and Nikchevich added the second and third points with West (no. 1 singles) winning 6-0, 6-0 and Nikchevich (no. 2 singles) dropping only one game with a 6-1, 6-0 win to put the Corsairs ahead 3-2. Bakersfield picked up the next two points at no. 3 and no. 6 singles to go ahead 4-3. Juyan Pollack tied the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at no. 5 singles.
This left the match in the hands of Yasna Yaghoubi who fought valiantly but lost in a tough, 3-set match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at no. 4 singles. Yaghoubi was the last Corsair playing AGAIN!
