SMC Women's Basketball Lead Assistant Coach Tramon Steele , enters his 14th season as a basketball coach on three different levels. Coach Steele has coached previously at Animo South L.A., Fredrick Price High School, St. Mary’s Academy and GBL Club Team. He was named an Assistant Coach for the Los Angeles Southwest College Women’s Basketball program in the summer of 2015 and served as Assistant Coach for three years. Coach Steele has set his sights on making an impact with the Santa Monica College Women’s Basketball Program where he will sit a long side Head Women’s Basketball Coach Lydia Strong.    Coach Steele will serve with the SMC Corsairs as an Assistant Coach and be responsible for Women’s Basketball Operations and recruiting.

Coach Steele helped the high school level find plenty of success during his time at Animo, Price and St. Mary’s Academy. Animo won 20 plus games in 3 of the four seasons Tramon spent on the bench. Price won over 40 games in just two seasons and went to two Championships, winning the school's first CIF-SS Championship in 2016. Tramon also helped coach the Varsity Boys and Junior Varsity Boys teams at Animo and at Price High School, winning two CIF Championships. Animo won Division 5 City in 2012 and Price won both boys and girls Division 6 Southern Section Championships in 2016. St. Mary’s Academy reached the quarterfinals in the 2016-2017 CIF-SS Division 3A playoffs for the first time in 8 years under his mentorship as a first year Head Coach for Girls Varsity Basketball. During the 2017-2018 season of Coach Steele’s St. Mary’s Academy Girls’ Varsity Basketball team went 20-7 and won league championship in the Camino Real League.

Steele is currently the Girls Varsity Head Coach at St. Mary's Academy High School in Inglewood, CA. He will be coming back to St. Mary’s Academy with three years of college coaching experience and he will be entering his 3rd year as head coach at the high school level. Coach Steele has years of coaching experience and 15 years of playing experience which is very valuable in shaping a new and existing programs on the college, club and high school levels. Coach Steele has had the opportunity to work and lead camps for likes of some NBA Greats such as Michael Jordan, Derek Fisher, Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant, all of which can be credited to his work ethic and love for the game of basketball.

Coach Steele, serves as one of the program Directors, Recruiting Coordinator and Head Coach’s for the GBL Lady Rebels AAU Team/GBL Team Derek Fisher National team based in Los Angeles, CA. During his time at the AAU level he has helped mentor girl basketball players in reaching their goals of playing college basketball. Under his mentorship he has helped now more than 40 young ladies reach their dreams of playing college basketball and WNBA. Coach Steele has had the pleasure of coaching alongside and mentored by Coach Sherri Pegues who is founder and owner of GBL Sports, Inc., also regarded to be one of the most recognized and successful girls basketball coaches on the AAU Circuit, Adidas Gauntlet Divisions and across the State of California since 1997.

Tramon is a Southern California native who attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles, and then went on to play one seasons at JUCO level.

Tramon Steele started coaching girls’ basketball in 2005 - while in high school - just to coach his younger sister. He is mostly known throughout Southern California as Coach Tre.
